This week, Kales & Kales is celebrating ten years in business. In some ways it seems like yesterday when we opened our doors, and, in others, it seems like we’ve been doing this forever.
We have learned a lot in ten years—a lot of things they don’t teach you in law school. We’ve learned about firm administration, marketing, profit/loss statements, and of course, the bottom line.
But more than the business side of things, we’ve learned a lot about the psychology of divorcing individuals. We’ve seen what a disruptive force divorce can be in people’s lives. We have learned how traditional litigation can add fuel to the fire of strong emotion. Anger, fear, disappointment and sadness can all be made worse when opposing attorneys focus on “winning” at all costs.
That is why we have made the decision to focus our energy on Collaborative Practice, Mediation and Uncontested Divorces. By focusing on the needs of the whole family and seeking an Agreement that works for both parties, as well as sometimes engaging other professionals (including financial neutrals, parenting specialists and mental health coaches) we feel we provide our clients with the best service.
It’s been an eventful ten years. Full of learning, and evolving and honing our skills. We look forward to serving you for ten or twenty or even thirty more!
