Kales & Kales, PLC charges clients based on an hourly rate. Our attorneys’ hourly rates* are as follows:
- Jonathan L. Kales $425.00
- Amy Grillo Kales $425.00
Initial consultations are billed at our regular hourly rates.
In collaborative divorce and other cases where we negotiate upon behalf of a client, we require an advance deposit The amount of this deposit, commonly referred to as a “retainer,” will be determined by an attorney during your initial consultation, based on an assessment of the complexity and nature of your case. This fee is deposited into a trust account with our firm.
Each month, you will receive a detailed invoice indicating the work we have done on your behalf. At that time, we will withdraw the amount owed to the firm as indicated on your invoice from your trust account. You will be required to replenish your “retainer” and maintain the advance fee balance in your trust account throughout our representation.
In addition to legal fees, some costs will be incurred on your behalf and you are responsible for these costs. Such costs include, without limitation, delivery charges, postage, photocopying costs, and facsimile charges. These costs will be included on your bill each month. You may be requested to pay third parties or expert witnesses directly.
For our mediation services, we charge $425 per hour. Fees are paid at the end of each session until it is time to draft your marital settlement agreement, or other agreement, at which time we require a deposit. The deposit for a marital settlement agreement is usually between $2,000 and $3,000.
For information regarding the deposits required for uncontested divorces, please visit the Uncontested Divorce page on our site.
*The exact terms of our billing will be explained in a written fee agreement should you wish to retain our firm.
